I’m getting super excited about the launch of Potroast #9!
We’re only 4 days to go.
We’re wading through proofs, making slight changes here and there to the formatting and fixing the odd typo we find. On Monday the full issue is being printed and then Ya-wen and I will begin the task of binding every copy on our sewing machines.
This issue has jumped to 200 copies!
Hearts Content Catering is pulling out all the stops to make us some fabulous finger food. I’ve been lucky enough to try some of the samples, and you’re in for a treat!
So, in the lead up to the event, I thought you all might like to know a little more about who and what is in this issue of Potroast.

One of our regular contributors, my favourite of her work being Adam’s Apple which appeared in Issue 4, the opening line: ‘No, Adam offered / the apple to me.’

Thomas Casey
One of our favourite illustrators, Thomas’ work was on the cover of issue #3. Thomas will be at the launch drawing for us an illustrated guide to his work.
Jeremy Roberts
For those of you who frequent the Auckland Poetry Scene, Jeremy will be familiar to you as one of the four MCs at K Rd’s PoetryLive which is on every Tuesday at the Thirsty Dog. Jeremy is a first time contributor to Potroast, with a fabulous poem titled Instruction Piece after Yoko.
DMT
Another first time contributor to Potroast, Daniel has constructed for us a satirical instructional diagram, an activity in traipsing through flowcharts to find the how to.
Jovan Milovic
A graphic designer who works in architectural forms, Jovan has contributed Floorplan for a Modernist House, and he will be speaking to us at the launch about his work.
Boris White
The longest piece in this issue of Potroast is a short story by Boris White, a Douglas Adams style science fiction story.

Illustrator for bands t-shirt and album cover designs, his work has been in Potroast a number of times before;

Sophie is another first time contributor, the work included in Issue 9 is titled The Sad Pack, a satirical article that would stylistically find it’s home in a Year 12 School biology textbook, a clever literary tool with which to examine perspectives of mental illness.

The Musician Poet! I saw Alex perform at Lounge last month, a brilliant poet and a brilliant performer, we are lucky to have him performing his work at the launch on Thursday. Alex has appeared before in issues 5, and 8.
Kelly Malone

Katherine Wilkinson
Katherine has written for us, on unpaid commission, a review of Opus by Genevieve McClean. Katherine, a Production Editor for Wiley Blackwell Publishing, usually writes music reviews here, she has shown her skill for reviewing spans across media.
Kirsty Dunn
